Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) is an active-learning program offered in selected courses at Florida International University. Students enrolled in a course with PLTL meet weekly in small workshop groups led by trained Peer Leaders who previously completed the course. Peer Leaders guide students through course-related problems and activities, but students are expected to actively participate, collaborate with their peers, and bring their course materials to each session. Students must enroll before attending a PLTL workshop. Some PLTL workshops begin shortly after enrollment opens, so review the dates carefully.

Enrollment

Once enrollment opens for your PLTL course, select the View Courses button. During high-traffic periods, you may be placed in a queue before logging in and selecting a workshop section. The queue will show your place in line and move you forward automatically. Do not close your browser window or refresh the page, or you may lose your place in the queue.
After logging in, use the Category dropdown to select the correct course subject, then click Search. This step is required to avoid enrolling in the wrong PLTL subject. If the Enroll Now button appears grayed out, you are already enrolled in a section and must drop your current section before enrolling in another one.

Enrolling in a Second PLTL Course

• If you are taking more than one course that offers PLTL, you may not be able to enroll in the second PLTL section through this portal. Once enrollment opens, email the PLTL Office at PLTL@fiu.edu with the subject line: PLTL Secondary Enrollment Request.
• In the body of the email, include your full name, 7-digit Panther ID, the subject you want to enroll in, and at least three preferred section times for that subject.
• If space is available, the PLTL Office will enroll you in the section and you will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours. If your requested sections are full, you will be contacted to choose another available section.

Dropping or Switching a PLTL Section

You may drop your current PLTL section through this registration portal. Select View Courses, then click the red DROP button located in the blue banner above the section list, beneath your name. After dropping your section, you may enroll in another section if seats are available. Full sections cannot be overridden. If the Enroll Now button appears grayed out, you must drop your current section before enrolling in another one.

Confirmation

After registering, check your FIU email for confirmation. You should also log in to Canvas to confirm that your PLTL course appears. Available sections may change based on Peer Leader availability and university room assignments, so make sure you are reviewing the correct course, section, day, time, and location.
